How we handle errors, updates, and transparency.
Our Commitment
We aim for accuracy, clarity, and fairness. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and explain what changed, when, and why.
What requires a correction vs. an update?
Correction: Factual errors (numbers, names, prices, test results, dates, misattributed quotes).
Clarification: Original text was accurate but unclear or missing context.
Update: New information after publication (product version change, price change, feature launch) that doesn’t fix a past error.
How to request a correction
Please contact us with: (1) the article URL, (2) the exact passage, (3) what you believe is wrong, and (4) a source showing the correct info.

Please include, when possible: a screenshot or archived copy (e.g., Wayback link) and a source we can verify.
Verification & review process
Triage by an editor.
Fact-check against primary sources and test notes.
Editor decision: correction / clarification / update.
Publish the change note and amend the article.
Typical timelines: critical issues ASAP (same day); standard within 1–2 business days.
Severity levels & actions
Critical: Core claim wrong / safety/privacy impact → immediate fix, headline update if needed, strong correction note, consider retest or temporary takedown.
Major: Key detail wrong (price, score, spec) → fix + visible correction note.
Minor: Typos/formatting → silent fix; no meaning change.
Response Timelines & Notifications
Critical errors: corrected as soon as possible, usually within the same day of verification.
Standard corrections: addressed within two (2) business days.
When a material correction affects scores or recommendations, a correction note is added to the top of the article with the date and nature of the change. Subscribers to our newsletter may also receive a brief notification in the next issue summarizing major corrections.
How we display corrections
We do not stealth-edit material errors. Material changes are logged with a visible, timestamped note.
Notes appear at the top or bottom of the article (depending on impact), timestamped, and signed by the editorial desk.
Prior wording may be quoted for clarity when useful.
Template to paste in articles:
Correction (DATE): We corrected [brief description]. The previous version stated “[old text]”; it now reads “[new text]”.
Version history & scoring changes
When we change scores or recommendations, we add an Update note with the date and reason (e.g., software version change, new test results). For our testing framework, see How We Test.
Social & syndication
If we materially correct a story that was promoted on social or syndicated, we will update those posts where feasible and link back to the corrected version.
